Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:

Revelation Chapter 5-6 (The Key Passage is Rev 5:9-10)

When John wrote Revelation, he was an old man, probably in his nineties, serving time in prison for incessantly preaching about Jesus. Some believe the God preserved John's life, allowing him to live well into his nineties so that he might receive the Revelation and record it. Jesus is described in these verses as a lamb who appeared to have been killed. And yet He is very much alive and is declared the only One worthy of opening the scrolls. These verses also point out that Jesus dies for people of every tribe and tongue. It easy at times to image heaven as a place where everyone looks like you and speaks your language. Jesus died for people of all races, cultures, and languages. Heaven will be an amazing place because we will all be together, worshipping our Lord -- the only One who is worthy of our praise, the Lamb who was slain for our iniquities.

What details stand out to you in the description of the Lamb in Revelation 5?

How did the Lamb (Jesus) purchase people for God?
